The R6551P is an asynchronous communications interface adapter (ACIA) provides an easily implemented, program conntrolled interface between 8-bit microproceesor-based systems and serial communication data sets and modems. The device has an internal baud rate generator. The R6551P is designed for maximum programmed control from the microprocessor, to simplify hardware implementation.
